How about suggest food items that will be gone and you don't have to be stuck with the lousy gifts.

i have bought jewelry that gets returned, clothes never fit, flowers need to be from real flower store-giant are not good enough, it is really just a chore.

Me too!! And for Mother's Day I just make a mani/pedi appt. and family dinner reservations and say thanks, hon! I get exactly what I want for any gift giving event. It's pretty sweet actually.

OP here: That does sound a little more promising. All I've seen are the TV spots for gusseted underarms and high-rise pants to cover crack. I've been good and haven't even looked at the site, don't wont to ruin my look of surprise.

We are still laughing with kids about one present. At one time we lived in the area that doesn't have Jo Malone stores. My husband was on the business trip before Christmas, so I printed him a page from the Neiman Marcus website with the request to buy me the parfume (the print out had the exact name of the smell, brand name and picture on it). Guess what? He brought totally different smell from Jo Mallone. I have more than a dozen Jo Malone's parfumes and like to combine them, but he picked the one that I totally cant stand (jasmine). I loved when he looked at me and honestly said "But they didn't had in stock the one that you wanted, so I picked the different one". We ended up using it as a bathroom refreshener and still wondering how you can possibly screw up like that. I love my husband!

Does she asked for the house? I hope that the house came with the maid.

OP, my husband is also a sweet but horrible gift giver. He also never seemed to notice that I never wore anything he got me. I've convinced him that I really really do not want to exchange gifts for the holidays, that all the shopping is stressful for me and that all I want is more time with him. Go for his sweet spot. If your guy won't go for that and wants to shop for you even if you don't want anything, you have to find something to clue him in on. Like you can always replace your slippers, right? So keep talking about these darn slippers getting so old or whatever. Even if he gets ugly slippers, who cares? Repeat a lot and let him think he came up with the idea on his own and he'll feel proud.
