My 3 year old said this morning, "I love my uniform!" That says it all. It makes life so much easier for me in the mornings.

I hope that the school my kid ends up going to HAS uniforms... no more fights!
Also, no more buying clothes at the beginning of the school year. I wonder how many do you need... 3? 5 sets?
I am in a super creative profession and, let me tell you that wearing a uniform in school (no matter how strict it is) will NOT dampen any kid's creativity.
If your kid is creative, well, there's nothing you can doing to dampen it.

I'm from Berkeley too and I unexpectedly love uniforms at my kid's schools. I bought compression tights for my son to wear under his khaki pants when it is cold (loves them and he can use for athletics too) and my daughter wears tights under her dress or skirt-- no limit at her school regarding the color or pattern of tights so she goes wild! Same with head bands, boots and coats. The uniform with freedom to accessorize is a perfect fit for us. Gets us out the door quickly with a bit of freedom for self expression.

Uniforms in HS are awesome!! No thinking about what to wear and makes DD getting out the house on time much easier. Students are still able to tell the haves and have nots based on shoes and coats though, although I don't think teasing goes on at her school. She complained about uniforms in MS, but now in HS she doesn't care as much. As long as her hair and makeup are perfect she is happy.

I don't think uniforms have much of an impact on behavior. Also it's not fun to see children get punished for not wearing thier uniforms because thier family didn't do laundry. Or worse children sent to school in dirty or ripped uniforms the so they wouldn't get in trouble.

I don't know about bullying - but it cuts down on the pressure to buy and wear expensive clothes. I appreciate that!

My school has a uniform. Love it - makes getting dressed easy and bought all we need for a year super cheap at old navy.

We love the uniform at our charter. Am very thankful that it does not involve white or khaki, though!

School uniforms really don't help with the education outlook. It was supposed to cut down on the bullying but tell that to the thousands of kids who are still getting bullied.
