This maybe true for some, but three of my neighbors have left other schools for MV because of there MS feed.

Not that it's happening at Powell, but maybe that's why so many parents leave in the early years (PK-1) for a better elementary that has a MS option (DCI).

The only problem with this is that the boundary shift now puts a lot of the higher SES at West and Barnard. Almost all of my friends (and us) are no longer zoned for Powell. Is there still a proximity preference? I was told yea by some and no by others.

what do you mean how other languages fit into that?


I think the pp means other families who first language isn't English. For example, there are a few Ethiopians in the school.

The only school that ways Spanish dominance is Oyster.


That's actually no longer true. A handful of DCPS are doing this now (this year) not sure if Powell is one.
