WTH is your point?
My point is someone said, "congrats!" a response that could only be suitable for a student. the parent didn't get in anywhere.
Parents are to be congratulated too. You sure do sound bitter.
Hardly bitter. Just tired of college acceptance being viewed as a parental accomplishment.
Also tired of the AP tally, the 3 sports tally (unless child is a key member of a Varsity team) and community service done by ALL to check a box.
Hardly bitter? I would go with bitterly bitter. Remedy: quit reading DCUM.
Based on what? My kids go to great colleges and I never felt compelled to brag about it on DCUM. But as someone who is very familiar with this process from the standpoint of working with students, I have a birds-eye view on the parental and community pressure these kids are under to look like they're doing it all. Very few are even coming close. Many are hanging on by a thread. It's not healthy.
Folks, it looks like the thread has been hijacked by the biggest blowhard this forum has seen in awhile.
forgive me, but when the name calling started, seemed only fair to provide some context for my opinion. sorry if you don't like it because it disproves the "bitter" insult. seems I can't really win either way.
