Oil fields are booming and can't find people to fill 100k+ jobs.
Some folks are just lazy and looking for a handout.
Those $100k/year jobs are still skilled jobs though. You can't just be handy with a shovel and get those jobs.
New poster here. Actually, many of these jobs require minimal skills and there is such a need, that companies are willing to provide the training. Even drivers are making around $100k/year these days. It probably won't last forever, but is not a bad option for those with no education and families to support.
I just sat next to a 20-something on a flight and he was telling me how he's about to start college after earning enough to pay for it after a few years working on oil platforms off the Gulf of Mexico.

That is so interesting. Because my friends who work at places like Ann Taylor loft and similar clothing stores with retails experience are offered 9.75/hr. I kid you not. So I guess I need to recommend these places.

Small catering company I worked for paid $15 hour for front desk work, part time Monday to friday mornings. Extra pay for creating menus or if I kept track of the kitchen employees.
Grocery stores tend to pay well.
Best friend Worked at a Dog vet for $15 hour front desk receptionist and had great M to F hours. I know she washed dogs for a few months when the groomer quit. That she made $20hr but she didn't like getting dirty. I even thought about taking that type of work on weekends.
hmm, DC worked at Vet and made $9 per hour. A friends DC also worked at a different vet and makes $9 per hour.
what vet pays 15 per hour for part time job?
