My house cost half of yours, but I did not buy a $6K refrigerator. That's insane.

I recently bought a $1.4M home and did the entire kitchen over. Spent $19K on appliances. Feels like the right $ amount for the home.

Just not this one which, as shown, runs around $26,000.

Get what you want. We have a Samsung fridge and dishwasher, Thermador ovens and Viking range. We love them all

Agree with the price ranges and yes on the Wolf. A BIG no on the Sub Zero (they break down constantly)and the Bosch--read Consumer Reports.
Boschs don't have heaters (you'll have spots on your dishes), they're small and awkward to load.

CR highly recommends the Bosch for dishwashers. We don't have spots on our dishes.

I agree - We just got a Bosch 500 series dishwasher (after having another one in another home and loving it) and it is great. I love the 3rd rack for the utensils. It is quite as a mouse and the dishes are squeaky clean.

For the cook top I would check out Thermador over Blue Star.

agreed. yes there is sometimes still water if the top of the cup has an indentation, and I think the inside may be smaller than some American brands. but otherwise no complaints and the QUIET makes it all worth while for me.

I'd personally go for a Blue Star or Capital Culinarian range because I prefer the open burners. And a great hood.
As long as I have a functional fridge and dishwasher I'd be happy.
If you can afford it buy whatever makes you and your wife happy.

You need to tell us the neighborhood. We live in a $1M SFH in CCDC and those appliances are probably out of line--and we just redid our kitchen last year. Have higher-end appliances (Bosch, JennAir, KitchenAid, etc.) but not Subzero and $10K fridge appliances. (I am an avid cook, btw.) Most homes in the neighborhood are in the $900-$1.3M range, and most have LG french door fridges, gas ranges (nice, but not AGA), Bosch or Kitchen Aid dishwashers.

We just redid our kitchen in our about 1.3 million dollar house. I cook a lot so I picked appliances that I know will be very good - but aren't as "fancy" brand wise. I think I spent about 12k total on all of them.

Depends where you are. In my neighborhood $1.2M only gets you 2,000 modestly updated sq ft. If you're in a suburb where $1.2M gets you a much bigger house that all have $30k with of appliances in the kitchen, then this seems reasonable.

Just tell her to get the one with the red knobs that's in all celebrity kitchens: it's the Wolf Oven. It's The One That You Want.
