Have you always been this weak-willed, OP!

Ooh! From what to what?

Not that PP but my dad had his named changed when he was four months old. From Sheldon to Ronald (he goes by Ronnie). I don't think either name was particularly good.

Is it Ryder?

close Rhys, but it might as well be Pilot Inspektor considering how conservative this board is.

How is that pronounced? Rice? Rise? Riss? I am so glad to have stumbled upon your post! I always read that name and never know how it should sound out loud.

OP, we can't help it if you have bad taste in names.

Unreal.

"Unreal" is your taking this so very personally.

I second going with your DS's equivalent of Hank. There are lots of batshit nicknames for the good old fashioneds - I know because we're using one.

WTF! DCUM didn't put a gun to your head when you were filling out a birth certificate. Have the guts to stand by the fact that you made the decision to name your kid whatever it is you named him.

My DD was going to have one name but we went with another one for family harmony. In abstract, I still like the first name a little better but (in addition to the fact that family peace was worth it), it would never occur to me to blame my family members for my kid's name. I am the one who filled out the forms, so it's my responsibility.

Also, if you really loathe it, you know you can legally change it, right?

Duh.

Especially don't take advice from anyone that uses "duh" or superfluous punctuation.

+1

Do this, OP. Or, could you change his name legally? He's only a year old, and you've probably called him a bunch of nicknames like "sweetie" to his face for the past year, so he wouldn't be too confused.
