We could get into a tit-fot-tat about the Muslim conquests in Africa and through India.

Or why the Christian ruler Michael of Constantinople initially begged Rome to help defend Constantinople against the Muslim invaders.

But that would be childish, don't you think?

To me it doesn't really make sense however to blame a religion for terrorism-- it will at most be an excuse not a reason

.
stop feeling sorry for yourself. You were never a slave in America like the blacks, you were not robbed of your land like the native Americans. You live in an expensive area and send your kid to a private school and shop at wholefoods

If you like, you can try living among the muslims or communists or someone else

I am not sure if you are projecting or just aren't very good at understanding. Nowhere did I say I felt sorry for myself. But attitude that Islam is somehow a uniquely evil religion is ridiculous and offensive, given that as much or more evil has been done in the name of Christianity.

Are you a jewis person saying Christianity has caused more wars than Islam, therefore you get to be the best. I suggest you study history more. War is seldom because of religion. Christianity did not cause the American civil war or the revolutionary war, or invent the atom bomb.

I think reference was to Christian Crusades and Christian led killing sprees in Africa.

That's definitely up for debate. Ask the folks across Asia to India how they felt about being conquered by Muslims.

Probably the same way Africa, much of Asia, and the "New World" felt about being conquered by the Chrisitan West. Countless atrocities justified because it benefitted Christians and only hurt "heathens." Happy Columbus Day!

I wish some of you people who are always talking about What Christians Do had actually ever read the New Testament to see What Christianity Actually says. I know, that will never, ever happen. Oh well.

Not having friends who are Muslim doesn't prove you are racist. Your opinion of them or their religion does.

I'm Christian, I'm supposed to count my muslim friends to prove if I'm an islamophobe or not?

I suppose its how white people count their black friends to show they aren't racist.

That's fine if you want to debate it, but the point is that it's very much up for debate, and people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones (or, perhaps in this context, let he who is without sin cast the first stone...)

That's Indigenous Peoples Day.

I do know muslims, and some jews. They never mix. At my last job the jewish person never spoke to the muslim. No hello, no casual comments to even general office conversations

Could you elaborate on that? I've never heard that. For either religion.

The context of these is to not take people as friends who are likely to harm your faith. Unbelievers, or believers (like Christians and Jews) who may proselyte and try to convert you. The Prophet married both a Christian and Jewish wife.

This was revealed at a time when they were warring. God warned them to be careful at that time and not trust people who were trying hard to extinguish Islam. If, however, a Jew or Christian allows Muslims to practice freely, then Muslims can befriend them. I am Muslim, but one of my good childhood friends was an orthodox Jew. She has since moved to Israel.

I even hear there are sword wielding Buddhist monks in Asia. This group too has a great deal in common.

what admirable qualities do religiously devout people have in common?

I am not the PP, but a humility and submission to a Creator, accepting that mankind is fallible but can be forgiven with God's mercy, devout people of all faiths tend to be more compassionate, think Mother Theresa, nuns who help the poor, the requirement in some religions to give to charity, all of these qualities in religion inspire people to do good.
