+1. Just don't drink. And then shut up about it.

I was one of those "life of the party drinkers", and now that I don't drink I'm more mellow. I have actually stopped going to drinking events, like wine tours, party buses, etc. I just prefer not to be around a bunch of drunks. I can still go to a party and have a good conversation without the alcohol, but I think the people I use to hang with no longer think I'm fun. I have accepted that, and now search out people that are non-drinkers. I do miss my "friends" though sometimes.
What kind of adult goes on party buses?
It was for a bachelorette party.

I was debbie downer and judgy judy rolled into one when my kids little league team got tickets to a Nats game together and half of the parents got plastered at the stadium. Plastered as in shit faced. Yes, they all drove home themselves with their kids in their cars. After that some of them started get soused before our practices. It was easy to tell who had the serious drinking problems. The primary booze pusher a fitness guru too. Disgusting.

Anonymous wrote:Read the research article in the WaPo today -- there are about 60% of the population who never have a drink or less than once a week. The top 10% of drinkers are drinking the equivalent of 2BOTTLES of WINE EVERY NIGHT! The rest are in between.
The beverage industry would collapse (according to the article) if the top 10% of drinkers were encouraged to reduce their intake. There are a lot of people who can gently handle their alcohol, and then there are a sizable number of people who are living drunk everyday and keeping the beverage industry in the money. Think about all the health issues, accidents, deaths, violence that alcohol brings to our society via those who drink too much... yet, we don't REALLY have the guts to get the abusers to reduce or stop.
