It's not a "kreeative" name if it's the legitimate spelling of a name in another language. It may be misspelled, but it's not made-up. Amalia is a name in German (Freud's mother was named Amalia), Portugese, Italian, Sweden, Spanish, etc. That said, it may be more likely to be misspelled because it is close to a better-known name, Amelia.

How about the other names? What race of girl do you think they're for?

I like Fiona best, then Amelia. These thoughts are both probably goofy, but Lana sounds very 80s to me for some reason, and Josephine I would think there was a strong chance her dad was a Joseph who wanted a son (although it doesn't have that ring quite as much as some of the other female variants on common male names). Amalia I would think would be dealing with people having trouble pronouncing her name for all her life, so I would probably rule it out for that reason, but I know some people don't find that a big deal, and it seems pretty otherwise.

I wish I knew more little Simones. I think it's fantastic.

Lana feels like half a name to me.

Honestly, I like all of those names fine. Amalia was on our short list (for the famous fado singer), and I love Annemarie (but it was the name of one of my husband's exes, so we ruled it out). Simone and Lana are my least favorites. Juliet is also good.

Lana and Fiona are my favorites.
