You could always just call her Tree as a nickname...

Wow, that is quite a name to saddle a child with. Please don't.

Those are the weird old hippies, not a baby who doesn't have a choice in picking a name.

It's the name of a child in DH class, we were wondering if it was pronounced like the tree.

I think it's an interesting name, rather know a little Sequoia than another Bella, Sophia, Aiden, or Brayden.

Of course it's pronounced like the tree--unless the parents are total assholes, if you name your child after a tree, you should pronounce it like the tree.

I think it's fine--people name their little girls after plants and trees and flowers all the time--and it's miles better than Brayden/Jaiden/Zaden.

Her teacher's certainty it must be Mabel
Made Maple first take notice of her name.
She asked her father and he told her, "Maple—
Maple is right."
"But teacher told the school
There's no such name."
"Teachers don't know as much
As fathers about children, you tell teacher.
You tell her that it's M-A-P-L-E.
You ask her if she knows a maple tree.
Well, you were named after a maple tree.
Your mother named you.

"There's no such name" sounds a lot like DCUM.
