This was our first lesson and we were literally less than 5 minutes into the lesson when she decided she had to be the one to lead.
I guess a better move might have been to switch partners.

If she isn't willing to learn to follow there is no point to taking a class. Yes you are going to make mistakes but that's why you are learning.
