Yes! That's a good one. I also really like Peep Show, but the pov camera takes some getting used to. It really gets hilarious and inappropriate after season 1.

Oof. I love that series, but it's emotionally exhausting for me. I can take only one episode at a time.

I totally binge watched all 5 seasons.

+1 on Veronica Mars. It takes maybe 2-3 episodes to figure out the characters, but then the characters are the best thing about it. It has a small but passionate fan base that crowd-funded (Kickstarter) a VM movie that was released earlier this year.

"Take Backup!"

I always take Backup. (Never go the Camelot without.)

Just off a Blacklist binge. Very satisfying--almost thinking of doing it over again.

I forget whether Backuo was in the movie, I think he was. I guess it's time to watch the movie DVD they sent me for contributing to the Kickstarter campaign.

I was somehow the only person in American who didn't watch Friends when it originally aired, but when I was stressed out studying for quals in grad school I ripped through all ten seasons. Great for mindless relaxation.

Many great suggestions above - Sports Night, Veronica Mars, Friday Night Lights, Good Wife are all excellent (and if you catch up on the Good Wife now, you can start watching season 6 soon). I think Amazon has an exclusive on Season 5 of the Good Wife (the rest is on both Amazon and Hulu+, if I recall correctly).

Was trying to expand my horizons just watched:
Being Mary Jane
Broadchurch (British version)
Orphan Black

Good/Reliable
OINB - Season 1 was the best
House of Cards

I second the Americans. Not light but more of a thriller than anything super dark or depressing.

Also second Friday Night Lights and Freaks and Geeks. Freaks and Geeks is the lightest of these three.

Don't know if you can get them, but we liked

Freaks and Geeks
Arrested Development
Sports Night

Also, not light hearted but early seasons of 24
