The damn rule was no white SHOES after Labor Day. God. If you're going to be a snob, make sure you know at least know what you're talking about. Otherwise that's low rent.

Thanks for trying, even though the conversation persists in discussing "wearing white."

WHITE SHOES, people. The rule is about white SHOES.

I mean, do you think there's a rule that you can't wear a white shirt after Labor Day or before Memorial Day? (Yeah, I know, 95% of people are going to wear whatever they want, from white shoes after Labor Day to diamond earrings before 6.)

Pencil white skirt with black top and black sling backs looks stunning in September.

Northeast crowd definitely wears white in an appropriate way and material after Labor Day.

It's about updating shoes, tops and handbags to go with the Fall look, e.g., no strap pay sandals with white after LD or sheer white things.

Only the old Southern/non-fashionable pearl clutches abandon all white after LD. Look to NYC, London, etc for tips of how the majority of the world does white in September.

Tim Gunn says it's okay to wear white after Labor Day.

Is it okay to wear white after Labor Day?
“Oh absolutely! All those rules need to go away. All of them, absolutely. In fact, winter white is stunning, it really is.”

What are some tips for wearing white after Labor Day?
“Don’t wear it with a crop top. I mean you can pair it with anything that’s appropriate. When I say appropriate, weather appropriate, it’s occasion appropriate and it’s age appropriate. I love white trench coats, they’re gorgeous.”

I'm southern and would never do it because I would feel uncomfortable. Wearcwhatever you feel best in and hold your head high.

The Sartorialist has a ton of pics of Europeans rocking the white and winter-white year round.

What he doesn't have pics of, however, are the uptight PP's Jack Rogers sandals and DC helmet hair.

Me, too.
For crying out loud, OP, wear whatever you want!

It doesn't work that way. It wouldn't be perceived as spite. Just a fashion faux pas

And I would perceive them as being a tightly wound dinosaur. I honestly can't believe this is even something people consider these days.

Growing up in Florida, I know that white is actually a year-round color choice.

That's so stupid, it's giving me a headache. I have a ski jacket that's white. When would you like me to wear that?

Lol!

I personally would wear white but only specific items- for instance a white classic button down can definitely be worn year round. A sweater in winter white? Of course. I might not wear a white skirt to be honest but I wouldn't judge someone who did by any means!

Ditto. Seriously, that is why no one should take fashion advice on this board seriously (for the most part).
