Madison has a great economy and new start ups. A friend of mine just spent 3 months there working for a software company. The big offices are Copenhagen, San Francisco, and Madison.

Seriously? Madison is a Democratic stronghold in what is traditionally (though that's shifted a bit in recent years) blue state. It's not called "The People's Republic of Madison" for nothing...

This isn't teton county wyoming winter, or front range colorado winter, or utah winters, or montana/idaho, pac nw winters, or even vermont winters

Midwest winters are all the shitty parts of winter without any of the good IMO.

So your saying in Wisconsin there is no: downhill skiing, cross country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, snow fort making, snowball fights, ice fishing, snow boarding, snow tubing, snowmobiling, hill sliding, snowman making, etc. These things cannot and never happen in Wisconsin?

I guess Devil's Head isn't a ski resort? Not huge but it's downhill skiing.

Eh, there are much worse places for snow. Madison only gets about 50 inches a year and they know how to handle it so the whole town doesn't shut down. A big snow in Wisconsin is nothing like a big snow in DC.
