For those of you who think it is natural to have a family sex bed - is there any age where it wouldn't be appropriate any more for your kids to be in bed with you while you have sex?

If your kids came home from your ex and said they slept in his bed with him, and he had sex that they woke up and heard/watched - would you be fine with that. Just part of being a family?

What is the difference in children watching adults have sex live in front of them and watching adults have sex on TV?


I think a hotline is probably going to look at the overall situation. They might be concerned about parents in a living space so small that there are not enough sleeping areas for everyone to have a private space. They might be concerned about parents cosleeping at all. I think the hotline would be concerned about the story where a woman has incestual sex while her older children watch TV in the same room. But I don't think that they will be as concerned about a couple having sex in the same room as their child, or even the same bed as their sleeping child.

Also, for what it's worth, in order to display genitals OR pornography to a child, the child has to actually be awake. The poster who related the original story states pretty clearly that her child was asleep at the time. I've fooled around with my husband when we all shared a bed on vacation. We didn't have sex, but that was primary because it's pretty hard to get in the mood when your baby is snoring next to you. Was the making out sex abuse too, PPs?

It must be lovely to live in such a black and white world. By your logic a movie that is rated PG-13 is ALWAYS inappropriate, regardless of the age of the child. The difference between having an infant sleeping next to you and having a 10-year old in the room is significant.

If the baby wakes up and sees mommy and daddy doing something under the covers in the dark, (a) the baby has no comprehension of what she's seeing, and (b) the baby has no real ability to form any memories about it. A 10-year old is completely different developmentally.

Obviously you're not going to have screaming, ride-em-cowgirl, kinda sex while a baby is sleeping, but having sex in a way that doesn't disturb the child is absolutely fine. The kid is sleeping and even if a 13-month old does wake up, you can stop what you're doing, comfort the baby until she goes back to sleep, and resume bonking, assuming the interruption hasn't killed the mood.

For someone who claims you're no prude, you sure come across as having a pretty repressed attitude, and using words like "Anyone who can justify this is horrible," tells me you've got some issues when it comes to sex.


This is my last post. You thinking there is nothing wrong with this says a lot more about you than me. But nice trying to deflect the disgusting behavior. And who calls it "bonking." Oh yes- the trash that believes it acceptable to do this.

I agree. I don't think it's ideal and that adults should be a discreet as possible, but the reality is that having ones private room to have sex in is the exception not the norm in most of the world. I am not saying it's ideal, but it's no sociopathic either.

PP here. Again, my post is in response to the subject of a couple having sex in a bed that their young child is SLEEPING in (or with a child sleeping in a bed in the same room). If the child were to see the parents having sex it would be because the child woke during the night, not because the child was already awake and watching the act (this would be weird in my opinion, on the parents part).

FWIW I remember my grandparents having sex when I went on vacation with them. They were under the covers and nothing obnoxious. I didn't look either. Looking back, I think fondly about it in a non creepy way that I was happy my grandparents still loved each other.

This is what it boils down to for me too. It's not child abuse, but I personally would not be able to relax and enjoy under those circumstances.

Why can't you just go have sex on the couch, kitchen counter or in the baby's room? Or at least have sex under the covers?
