Is this a fantasyland in which I can get in anywhere? If so, Stanford.

If not, I'd just go to Ohio State (I would've gotten the in-state rates back then) and be done with it.

I went to a small liberal arts college and hated it.

University of Florida. That's where I went and I 100% was in love with the school. Great academics, great weather, great football, great city, great party culture and lots of school pride. Couldn't have paid me to go to an Ivy league. Oh and I graduated with no debt since FL gives free scholarships to graduating seniors (Bright Futures) and UF is cheap.

+1 and to the GMU poster, Fairfax is NOT what I'd call a great college town nor is GMU a provider of a holistic college experience. I have many friends who went to GMU, but absolutely none who espouse it.

Learned welding at Mount Holyoke. In the sculpture studio. Admittedly wouldn't carry me through a trade though.

Not really, if your expecatations have been conditioned by images of beautiful Mid-Atlantic and New England schools in the fall.

Seemed fine - for sun-drenched California kids. Otherwise didn't wow me when I first saw Palo Alto.

East coast colleges are much more my style. Stanford doesn't do much for me, appearance-wise.

Interesting re Stanford. Knew someone who went there but was super bummed because wasn't accepted or maybe waitlisted? at Princeton.

Not really, if your expecatations have been conditioned by images of beautiful Mid-Atlantic and New England schools in the fall.

Seemed fine - for sun-drenched California kids. Otherwise didn't wow me when I first saw Palo Alto.
