I think greens will be the next big color family.

Personally if I'm getting color in the basement I want something a little warmer.

To me, that grey looks cold and industrial. It makes me think of a prison.

The grey trend will pass, like all others. Remember the bright reds and yellows of the aughts? Whites of the 90s? (maybe have years off a bit) But taupe will be here for at least another 5. bear in mind that when you go to buy new furniture, the colored furniture is matched to the "gray" look.

We painted our basement off white. I love how neutral it is, and the whole space feels really bright. Our upstairs is Manchester tan and I want to repaint to the basement color.

I hate grey too, except for exteriors, like doors and trim.

I hope so, OP! I'm so sick of drab, cold grays in all the houses we're looking at. Some shades are fine as long as it's in one room but the entire house??? I just don't get it, especially when it doesn't go with the cabinetry, tile, fixture, etc. and is clearly done because it's currently "cool". If you're going to be there a few more yrs then be sure to pick something you can live with!!

I vote for this.

What white is just white though? There are cool whites and warm whites.

I think bright easter-ish colors are the new trend, whether it's a bright powder blue, or easter egg blue, or like BM wythe blue, or a light grass green, or a bright yellow??

We have white now, and it's a little too boring and really shows toddler messes.

We have a color similar to this in our house and I really love it, and I didn't think I would. It's neutral but not cold, and it makes a nice contrast with white trim. If you had asked me a few years ago I would have worried about it being too "yellow" but we have these yellowy beiges throughout the house and I feel it's really bright and cheerful.

It's paint, not cabinets and granite. Pick a color you like, make sure your furniture goes and don't worry about resale - the next owners will reprint in colors they like anyway!

I thin white is supposed to be the next big trend, which sucks because I hate plain white walls.

The other color that's supposedly trending is navy but that isn't exactly a neutral.

I'm holding off repainting our main rooms. They are beige - so they are the old trendy color before gray. I'm guessing something else will be "in" soon.

BUT, today, I painted the bedroom gray - Alaskan Husky (Ben Moore). It's perfect because it's not blue-ish or beige-ish. It's like a true, light gray, but not so light that it's like a dark white, and not so dark that it's drab. I love it. I think warm colors in a bedroom are bad, and it's cool without going blue.
