Does anyone have any recommendations for a dermatologist who specializes in eczema? I've had it since I was a baby (I'm 25 now) and it was only ever bad in the normal places; insides of elbows, backs of knees & eyelids. I've recently (in the last 2-3 years) developed terrible rashes on my hands that have only been getting worse, I thought they were eczema but nothing has been helping. I've started drinking more water, taking omega 3 fish oil, flaxseed oil, and a bunch of other supplements that are supposed to be good for inflamation as well as tried to avoid lanolin as it comes from sheeps wool whoch can irritate the skin.

Then a few weeks ago I was looking for eczema creams and asked a pharmacist for any recommendations, he looked at it and said he thought it was fungal.

I saw Dr. Marjam Yousefi in Arlington last week because she had good reviews on several websites, but she didn't really give me any insight or new information and the appointment seemed rushed. She said it was not fungal, it was eczema and wrote me a steroid prescription. I'd like to see someone who can tell what it is, and confidently explain why. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but the office environment appeared to cater more to cosmetic dermatology, and I found it a bit unusual that the space was shared with a chiropractor.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

I see Dr. Robert Silverman in Fairfax. I originally started seeing him as a teenager and I went back to him because my experience with Dr. Albert was so negative. Dr. Silverman is awesome. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and his office staff are competent. I don't have to wait long to see him, maybe 15 minutes max.

Cripes!! I'm sitting in Dr. Albert's office right now. It's my first time here and my first derm appt ever. I'm going to see Dr. Toerge though. My OB referred me. I have MAJOR health anxiety and my OB's office said that she's very good and very compassionate. I have so many embarrassing skin issues plus I'm worried about a mole. I literally feel like I'm going to throw up right now. My mom died (breast cancer) this summer and after going to the doctor with her many times I'm so freaking nervous about it. I'll check back in after the appt. to give my review.

I third Dr. Kim -nothing but great experiences with him. And, only one visit. He diagnosed something on my son right the first time. The fact that he did't take insurance did not matter - I paid one time for one visit....after multiple visits to the Ped who just said put cortisone on it!

I am a nurse and I used to work with Dr. William Sawchuk (Vienna, VA). IMHO, he is one of the very best dermatologists! He has great bedside manner and is very knowledgable and extremely competent in his field! He does not focus on cosmetic dermatology nor does he try to up sell products or procedures. However, if you are interested in cosmetic procedures, he can deliver. The office was somewhat disorganized when I was there and I'm not sure if anything has changed or not, but I can say that I have complete respect and the utmost confidence in Dr. Sawchuk! In fact, I continue to take my family there for check ups and treatment.

Lily Talakoub is wonderful, personable, smart and a great diagnostician. She has her new office on Old Dominion Dr. in downtown McLean. When she retired Dr. Nancy Bruckner wanted to have Dr. Talakoub to take over her practice.

dont see Semler Dermatology Inc, Semler Douglas MD. Nice office staff and that is it! The PA is rude and doesnt know what they are doing, they actually scarred my face instead of injecting a cyst. Then when I tried to see the Dr. to fix, he wouldnt see me because his PA had done enough. I couldnt beleive it!!! I called 4x with NO response but sorry, we cannot help you. BAD practice

Dr.Rolla Jaber in Fair Oaks. She's at Inova Fair Oaks hospital. She, quite literally, saved my life. I can't say enough good things about her. Plus, you don't have to wait a million years to get in.
