Look into renting temp space while she is there. Regus has "day offices" you can get. Add it up and tell dh you'll be working out of the house if his mom comes and how much it will cost.

No, you are most definitely not being a controlling wife OP. Do not let your "butt-headed" husband try to manipulate you into thinking you are one.

You asked him ahead of time for this favor, and he basically ignored your request. And to top that off, he seems to undervalue what you do for a living by saying you do nothing during the day! What nerve!!

I say he obliges and tells his mother she can come after you finish your work duties...Perhaps around the holiday season...??

If he refuses, then I would seriously consider how I could live w/such a person who would undermine my hard work and simply not see what I do as having any merit.
