I know someone that still gets the clunky, thick, long, square acrylic French manicures. She smokes a lot and is lower income. I steer clear of French bc of her.

You can do the french manicure with a pale pink/off white on the tips and clear/lighter pink on the nails and it actually looks very natural, but always clean - even if you're working in the garden. I like that look, but don't love the bright white on fingers either - I think it's a bit tacky. A long-time girlfriend of mine always gets colors on the tips of her nails....love her and would never say a word, but it's awful.

French manicures are bad enough, but french pedicures are ghastly, like just painfully ugly.

Who cares?
I like my French mani/pedis.

I think a natural, shortish nail with a thin line of white looks elegant. I think a long, square nail, fake or real, with thick white or thick neon white looks gaudy.

I like a French pedi with short toe nails (always short whatever color, of course) and a narrow white line. It looks clean and you shouldn't be able to tell it is a French.

Hands are different.

If my DH had a gun to his head right now, he would not be able to say what color (or even IF there is a color) is on my nails to save his life.

But there are LOTS of guys with foot fetishes. And manicure/long nail fetishes.

Probably but I don't care. If I get a pedicure with one color, you can see very easily when it grows out. With a French, it lasts twice as long b/c of the natural color and if it chips, it really isn't noticeable. I get one a few times per summer.
