I can imagine if ONE Israeli child was killed...what would be happening. I am devastated and so saddened to see what has happened.
Most of the world aware of what's happening feels the same way. I can't imagine how the average Israeli copes knowing theirs is now the most reviled country on the planet by a wide margin. It is a terrible cycle because the Palestinians deserve their land back, but then who would want former Israelis living among them knowing how they've behaved?
An average Israeli copes very well because he or she has been taught since childhood that the world is against us and we need to defend ourselves and this land is ours to begin with and Palestinians, there is no such thing, and besides, the Middle East is full of Arab countries, why don't they go and live there?
You would love that, wouldn't you? Won't happen, we are here to stay and one day Palestine will be free!!!! And keep living in that illusion that the world is here to get you, Paranoia much?
I don't think pp is actually speaking from the Israeli viewpoint, she's explaining it.
He/she used the pronoun "We" so I understood it as he/she being part of the "we"

Is it? Really? Hitler?
The negative vibe on this thread and others similar to it seems to me to be too out of line of reasonableness.
Hitler - $20M people killed in WW2.
Conflicts today in the arab world of arabs killing other arabs - in the 100,000s
Not that 1000 people is a small number, but the title of this thread is ridiculous. I am truly sorry you do not see it, as I like your work building such a useful service. Plus, the families of these 1000 people need to ask for the root reason for their unfortunate death.
In my view, it is the result of a severe lack of good leadership.
Best wishes.
Holy moving the goalposts, Batman! You never even mentioned the subject of this thread or Hitler in your earlier post. You only compared what is happening in Gaza to what is happening elsewhere in the middle east. Now, you want to compare a week in Gaza to years in the entire Arab world, plus Hitler.
I would argue that 1000 dead over this period of time is comparable to bad weeks in other conflicts. I've argued myself in this forum that it is wrong to compare what Israel is doing to what Hitler did. If you want to argue that 1000 dead is not important because Hitler was worse, or whatever it is you are trying to argue, go ahead. But, don't act like you were arguing something completely different when someone calls you on it.

Remind me how many people were killed by arabs in Syria just in the last couple of yeara? Was it because of Israel?
How many were killed by arabs in Iraq? Was that Israel too?
How many were killed by arabs all through the middle east and beyond?
One has to understand that if Israelis were really interested in killing Palestinians, then the number of dead would be higher than the two examples above, not a small fraction.
Plus, next time think about what would you do when someone rains rockets on your city.
You need to check your data as well. Those other situations are tragic and of course I condemn the killing. But, the death toll in Gaza has exceeded 1,000 now. That would be a lot of deaths in such a short time period in either Syria or Iraq. The comparison to those conflicts no longer reflects positively on Israel. Israel has literally reached the level of Assad and ISIS.
Which country do you think this photo is from? It could be Syria, Iraq, or Gaza. It is Gaza:

But Israeli lives *are* more valuable. We were chosen by God, and there's no getting around that fact.
what God is that? One that creates people who are not worth the same?
You would have had peace long ago if you had swapped your holy books to the book about Whinney the Pooh
PP was probably being sarcastic.
I am sure he was being sarcastic but the sad irony is that the Israelis really do believe their lives are more important and worthy than that of a Palestinian civilian. Sad sad sad.

Why don't you educate me? I asked a question.
I don't know a lot about this situation but I see plenty of asshole posts like these and worse supporting the Palestinians with no convincing logical arguments, on most of the threads about this topic. They aren't helping convince anyone you are right.

OMG, there is nothing unique about their situation. The only thing unique about it is that they cannot tolerate living with, beside or in another country -- Israel. Can you imagine if people behaved this way when Pakistan was created, or any of the other countries that were created or dissolved in just the last 100 years? It's a ridiculous argument.
They are not living "with" or "beside" Israel, Israel is occupying their land and limiting their ability to live, even in Gaza.
Isn't that because of the actions of the Palestinians?
