I read the first one and it was ok - when did you get hooked?

Yes, it was a beautiful, beautiful book, but I still shake and shudder sometimes about what happened when things got out of balance. I read it almost 5 years ago.

I was also long tortured by Oscar & Lucinda, another beautiful and haunting book.

Beyond the Beautiful Forevers, about slums near Mumbai. So vivid. So heartbreaking. I keep thinking about it. What happened to them?

She brings this up 4 or 5 times a year, often to strangers. I was in 10th grade when I recommended it to her. She's been complaining for about 30 years at this point.

I remember reading that in HS! Pretty intense.

+1 and One hundred years of solitude and the Cairo trilogy. I have reread them all dozens of time and it feels like a death when they end.

I could not get through 100 years for love or money. It just confused the hell out of me.

Hunger games, for sure. Boy or girl?

I loved Stephen King as a teen - they are great fun.

Mine too are romance books that stick with me. Mine are even more embarassing because it is in the "romantica" category. There is one series with 16 books that I could read over again.

Vampire Winter
The Hot Zone
A Thousand Splendid Suns (kudos 13:13)
Swan Song (listened to it on Audible)
Enclave Series (listened to it on Audible)

FWIW, Enclave is a YA series, and I'm almost 40. Should I hang my head in shame to?

OP here - Enclave you say? Putting it on the list!

Honestly, I don't see why it's YA. It's pretty violent and bloody. I guess the absence of sex and cursing warrants a YA rating? I love PA fic

Is there any love/tension?

A bit, yes
