Subject: How did you suspect and/or find out you had cancer (or how did a loved one)?
I had constant menstrual bleeding. My OB tried to do a D&C but was unsuccessful, so he put me on estrogen. That helped somewhat and then I had inconclusive MRI and ultrasounds that showed a "cyst" on my ovary. My internist suggested I see a gynecologic oncologist. He operated and found two tumors, one the size of a softball, that were malignant. I had total hysterectomy and three rounds of chemo. Three years--so far so good (knock wood!).

Mother went to urologist for repeat bladder infections that never went away. Diagnosed with stage IV bladder cancer. Surgery, chemo; now almost 16 years later still going strong.

Dh went for a run on treadmill at work and after that jarring had bright red urine from blood. Dx with kidney cancer stage 2. That was 2.5 years ago and no evidence of disease on scans.

I wasn't complaining about the thread, I was responding to the PP who wondered if it's the same OP posting again and again about this same topic - there have been several threads about health anxiety in particular lately. I personally don't think it's healthy for someone with health anxiety to keep fishing for these details. And I speak from experience.
But I have no problem with the thread itself...no need for snark!
I completely agree. This is really a pointless exercise. How I found my cancer and how someone else found their cancer is irrelevant. All its going to do is make the many people who come here with health anxiety fixate on the specifics of each post. This topic does come up often and it is fueled by people who are worried about their health and all it does is expand that worry. Not healthy. I didn't post my specific story for that reason.

I'm the OP who asked about the numbers.
I'm NOT the OP of this thread.
Further, the numbers thread was the only one I've ever started on this board, so I'm not posting "over and over."
Maybe, just maybe, many people have these concerns, especially as we grow older. I hope you're now finished being the Forum Police.
