The tests were the HSA's (we are in MD), so we haven't gotten the scores yet. He did recently remind me that he was able to pass the Algebra HSA in middle school, without extended time. (before he was diagnosed with ADD)

I'm curious how he did on the tests? It seems that if he did pretty well, he's probably right. If he didn't do well, there may be multiple reasons (irritation, work too hard, distracting environment, etc) and that needs to be sorted out. But it will be hard for him to argue that he doesn't need accommodations if he didn't do well on the test...

Make that mad a lot of the time.

So sorry you are going through this. This type of behavior is very typical of teenage boys who tend to be made a lot of the time. I can understand that he doesn't want to be labeled as different. no one does at that age. I would recommend family counseling, so he doesn't feel like he is being singled out as a big problem, and to make sure you keep communicating well. I would pursue why he doesn't like school. There may be alternatives he would prefer. Try to keep perspective. He will grow out of this and his SAT score, won't matter five years fron now. Some very good colleges don't require them. Or if he needs a smaller less competitive setting there are plenty of supportive small colleges that have programs to support kids with special needs. he wil grow up and some of these problems will be out grown. I have been in your shoes and my kid is now married, and a great dad with a good job .
