--pure breed pet. It's a rescue. I love the breed.
--Private school. Really? You think I'm sending my kids to private school to impress people? That's kinda nuts.
--Mass market luxury cars. We have those, but I like the way they drive. They're not meant to impress. They're very comfortable. Yes, there really is a difference between driving a Honda and driving an Audi.
--Vacation home in St. Barth. It's pretty there, and the kids can practice their French. It's not to impress, and we don't talk about it. Mustique, yikes. Can non royalty even buy there? Anyone can buy on St. Barth. Some prefer OBX, some MV, some Rehoboth. But Mustique??
I have to agree on the other stuff--no big logos, your clothing really shouldn't be a walking billboard for a designer. Labels belong on the inside. But if you like expensive stuff (and you can afford it), more power to you. I don't think everyone does things to impress others.
Oooh, I forgot one. I don't highlight my hair or get mani/pedis to impress, I do it because I look better that way! Nobody wants to see scraggly nails and my gray hair!![]()
Anonymous wrote:Pure breed pets - there are so many unhomed dogs. If you truly want/like an animal, go to the shelter. If you spend more than $50. on a dog, you are just stupid. Foolish with money, and probably foolish about everything else.

Amen!!! That dumb logo looks like a hubcap on apparel and accessories. "Hey! Look at me. I spent $750 for a purse and $300 for ballet flats!"![]()
I'll second the above "Amen!!!". I'll also add in anything with a giant logo like MK purses/bags.
Signing your preschool-aged child up for Kumon + music lessons + foreign language classes because "kids who don't do these things really fall behind in school."

Hon, no one CARES if you have gray hair or scraggly nails but you. Stop trying so hard to impress people.

I don't think tans are meant to impress anyone. Back in the day people were ashamed to be tanned because it meant you were working outdoors. Many people avoided getting tan because it was declasse. I frankly, cannot avoid it. If I stand outside with 50 sunscreen for one soccer game with my son I get a tan.
I like to go to the beach, and despite my best efforts (hat, sunscreen, umbrella) I get tan. Should I stop going? I don't think so, but this is NOT done intentionally to impress anyone, trust me.
