$200K buys a lot of private school. And I don't think anyone is thrilled with the by-rights school of the Eastern Avenue DC house either.

Yep. And it also lacks the advantages of a desirable urban neighborhood, like walking to food/shopping and metro.

North Michigan Park is actually quieter, fewer house renters, and more stable than Michigan Park and Brookland. It has the "stigma" of being closer to PG County than the other neighborhoods.

Yep, I agree. many SFH in Brookland are getting into the $600-800K mark, but not yet for Michigan Park. I've noticed some of the more affordable "Brookland" homes are actually in what most consider Michigan park.

There have been some $900+ SFH in Brookland, yes. It's staggering, but true.

I think the $1M house is an outlier. I was originally posting to show the earlier poster that, yes, Brookland does command $500K or more these days. Some people are just a tad out of touch with what is going on in NE DC.

I think you are out of touch with Brookland. I will agree that perhaps, Michigan Park does not (yet) command that price point, but a SFH in Brookland certainly does.

That's a beautiful house, but I can't imagine anyone paying over $1 million in Brookland. And I live in NE, so I'm not a NW partisan. That just seems really high.


I agree! I am the quoted PP and a Brooklander, but that is what houses are going for now. It's a little insane.


Have any actually sold for anything close to that? It just seems like such an outlier, judging by the houses on the map at the top in that first link. I'm not criticizing, just genuinely curious, since I can sort of imagine moving there someday for more space. But not for $1 million!
