This is not realistic. I am not being snarky or mean - simply truthful. You cannot even get a decent studio for this price, basement level or otherwise.

This. You can maybe get a two bedroom in those buildings on ct in the 2000 range if you are ok with no central air or no washer dryer in unit. That price woul be a steal.

Op, hate to tell you, but 1500 gets you a studio, maybe.

This one is $1500, 2 bed 2 bath, about 1.5 miles from Metro, and would probably give you a less than 1.5 hour total commute each way. And the schools aren't even that bad. No clue if it's actually still available but there are always a bunch for rent in that neighborhood. And you're very close to the Kingstowne shopping center which has all your necessary stores (grocery, restaurants, etc.) Now what do I win?

With most rent agency calculators your salary for $1,500 per month rental would only be $45,000 per year. Why did you decide to move your family to this area for a salary so low?

I just did a quick search in Wheaton, Md and couldn't find a 2 bedroom for $1,500. I found some in Germantown. That's a schlep and the only criteria it fits is your $1500 limit. DC and the burbs are $$$$. There's no way around it.

Look at apartments and townhomes in the Pentagon City and Ballston areas --those give you Metro access, good schools, kid-friendly neighborhoods, access to shopping, rec facilities reasonably close. Of course, it's a 30-min commute to the Hill. Also, will need to increase your budget to $2,000 or so.



I live between Crystal City and Braddock metros (1.5 mi to each) and we pay $2200 for a two BR, two BA.

OP, I do think that is impossible. You could barely afford to live in Richmond, 100 mi away, for that.

We walk 20 minutes to Ballston and we rent a 3bd/2ba house for $3k. We were shown some 3bd townhouses in the $2500 range within a few minutes walk to East Falls Church metro. You might be able to find a 2bd townhouse or apartment a short drive to the West FC / Vienna metros for $2k. I think extra bedrooms might be easier to find than >1 bathroom. We wanted 2 1/2 bath and could not find that on our $3k budget and still walk to the Orange line.

Oh I meant to add Anne Arundel schools - particularly crofton area are considered good.


You would write off an entire state based on a quick perusal of obeviunty? Please tell me you aren't going to have a position doing analysis or writing legal arguments.


With a budget of $1,500 for rent? Doubt it. Probably security guard or court reporter.
