Same here, haha. Adel white? They are very easy to clean. And if a door does chip somehow, well it would be cheap to replace!

Same here. 1.5 years old. Amazed how easy it is to clean them, everything wipes right off.

If you are doing white or any other painted cabinet no reason to get real wood. I think ikea is ok in this case.
This is why we went ahead and just got our cabinets professionally painted (stripped, sprayed, and brushed). They look great and, if they chip (only had one little chip near the sink), we just touch it up real quick.

It's not worth getting custom white cabinets (at least at our price point) if they're going to chip anyway.
How much did the professional painting cost?

Earlier this year, roughly 35 linear feet of Ikea Abstrakt, $8,100 labor (also includes demo, laying new click-style flooring, and painting walls; does not include plumbing/electrical/countertop install). The cabinets themselves cost $4k (bought during 20% off sale).

Omega Dynasty semi-custom white painted over maple. They were expensive compared to Ikea and Home Depot brands and are very solid and well made. BUT ... they do chip and, worse, the paint kind of bubbles at the edges where they have gotten a bit wet, like from drips from the sink.

I really hate how beat up they are starting to look and I wouldn't do white again, even though I love the look when they are new.

To be fair, they are ten years old, but I can't afford to replace them.

They were fantastic. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

The news about Kraftmaid is disappointing. We got a white bathroom vanity from them and it's very solid white, no see-through areas, etc. there is one chip, though, so that prompted my original question.

Why not? My architect friends all swear by it, especially for modern homes (the Abstrakt is very popular).

They do, actually, in some of the styles. But those are not the best-looking (or even the most expensive) styles.
