Most people who live in Maryland probably live in th DC burbs. No wonder they want to leave.
The only place I hear this claim is on DCUM. But the Gallup poll, if you're using that as evidence, doesn't support this point. Maryland is in the "worst" 10, but neither DC itself nor Virginia (the other suburb, remember?) are. Meanwhile, is everyone moving to Illinois just for jobs? New Jersey? Connecticut? How do you explain the less popular states? This "DC sucks but it's where the jobs are" is not actually supported by anything other than vague DCUM declarations....

People go to York County, PA because they can't afford a house in Maryland and housing in super cheap in that part of Pennsylvania; same reason some people commute to DC from way out in West Virginia. That's an affordability issue.

I mean as an outsider in my opinion Maryland is cool.when I first started coming to the state in early 2000's I wasn't a fan of it or the people but it slowly got on my good side.better opportunities here then in ny(affordable housing depending on where you live..etc etc).I like the suburban areas most ( Columbia in howard county...silver spring in Montgomery county).but the people being from the state I can understand if they wanted to experience something different

Can't speak to corruption in politics, because I don't know Virginia well enough. Maryland has a lot. But I do prefer Maryland's liberal policies for sure.
You obviously didn't live in Arlington.

Because things are so good here, Maryland is probably more transient than a lot of other places -- hence people want to go back to whatever crapburg they came from. I'm a native Marylander but I can't count too many among my circle of friends who are. And yes, they all want to go back to Pennsylvania (ha) or Illinois, because home is home.
Maryland doesn't have the top schools in the nation. I live here and I like it, but I think you'd be hard pressed to back up that claim with data.
Maryland is consistently ranked No. 1 in the nation in public schools by the education group that does the national rankings. I'm too lazy to google a link.
