SCES has never had a neighborhood preference, though it may seem like there is b/c so many in the neighborhood get in.

My kids are at College Gardens. I don't think of the Chinese Immersion program as better in any way. Not saying it isn't fine for a 1/2 day immersion program but they have a hard time getting teachers and they just don't seem to get that much Chinese time.

It would drive me nuts to send my kid to a school where she was excluded from the better program! It's in your face every day.

It has never been a policy.
Why should home school kids have preference?
It's kind of crsppy that some home schools have preference and others don't, though.

141 for K at SCES which means we will be on the non-French side of the school with no hope of moving over this year. I wish they still gave preference to home school kids. Anyone know if that ever really was a policy, and if so, when they changed it? I'd like to know if my realtor from 8 years ago was just flat wrong.

I thought siblings wouldn't be invited to different programs? My son and daughter were invited to different programs. Argh! The commute will definitely be a hardship.

Coincidentally, we had #12 for Maryvale for first grade this year and got a spot in January, right before the cutoff. You have a chance, at least. Good luck to you-- we were so grateful to get the spot and although starting in January is not ideal, it was totally worth it.
