I had a scholarship for undergrad, parents paid for grad school since they didn't have to pay for undergrad. DH was ROTC and the Air Force paid for grad school.

We intend to pay for DD's college, and I would love to be in a position to help with grad school but we're a long way away from that situation.

Should clarify, it's 65K per YEAR so x4 = 260K for four yrs. Like having a mortgage...

Parents paid for my college, husbands parents paid for his. We feel extremely fortuante to not have student loans, and will be passing that gift along to both of our children.

We had to pay for our own college which also meant it too much longer to complete. I am saving money for my 2 little kids now. I hope that by the time they are 18, we should have close to $80k saved for each. That is what will be covered for tuition. In-state, out of state, private, the difference is on them. If they get a scholarship, then that money could go toward a car or down payment on a house. If they choose not to go to college, they get $0.

My parents paid part. I am currently paying part for one and will try to pay part for #2 (God willing). Ironically, my ex-DH who said my parents were neglectful for not paying for all of my degree has contributed nothing toward college costs.

My parents did not pay for my college. I graduated with tons of loans, and those loans essentially forced me onto a career path I did not want, but which I knew would pay the bills. I will pay for my kids' college and encourage them to pick the path that most excites them.

My parents paid 100% for me to go to a VA state school.

Like the above poster, I will highly encourage mine to go to a VA state school and will pay everything if at all possible. I've seen my peers struggle to pay off their loans and I am so grateful that my parents sacrificed elsewhere to ensure my siblings and I graduated debt-free.

My parents paid for about 1/2 and I paid the rest via student loans. My husband's parents paid all of his college and paid for about 1/2 of his graduate school (he took out loans for the rest).
We plan on paying for our kids (2) because we've saved enough. We live in VA would like them to go to a VA state school unless there is a compelling reason to go to a private.

My parents paid for everything - college, law school, living expenses, and all incidentals. Everything. I had no financial stress during or after school due to student loans. I very much appreciated it, I worked really hard, and am a fully self-sufficient professional adult. My husband's parents paid for in-state public school tuition (he paid for living expenses), and he got a part scholarship for law school (the rest were student loans). We both expect to, and strongly want to, fund our children through college and grad school as long as they get good grades, are self-motivated, and show that they are taking the experience seriously. We can afford to pay so we will.

I had a full ride (merit scholarship) as did my siblings (military academies). My parents gave me some spending money. My grad school was fully funded as well, my parents helped me out by buying me a car (used), paying car insurance, and funding my Roth IRA.

We have college accounts for our kids and plan to continue those. I doubt we'll have enough to fully cover a private college. Our mortgage will be paid off before our kids are college age, so we'll help out beyond the savings accounts if we can.

I paid for mine but my parents gave me $300/month allowance which paid for me to live in a Knox box (if u went to md you know what that is... A nasty group living situation).

I paid for tuition, books, etc. I paid for my graduate school and my H's graduate school.

My H's parents paid for his school.

I am willing to pay the cost of UMCP... They will pay the rest.
