It definitely happens. I work for a male Financial Advisor, and although I've been in the business for a decade and have many designations, licenses, and an education myself - I'm still expected to get he and clients coffee when they come in, pour bottled water into a glass, give them cloth napkins, etc.
It's really degrading at my age (mid 30's) and there's nothing I can do about it as he pays me great for a four day week/flex schedule. I have to remind myself of that when I feel like throwing coffee mugs at him.
