I doubt most people would have heard of the legend - I am pretty sure your DD's future kindergarten and emementary school friends wouldn't have.

Plus, in the unlikely event she does get hit with a deluge of comments, it's a name that can be abbreviated to Lori.

The name itself is not my thing, but it sounds/reads just fine, so go for it, OP!

Someone I know nicknamed their car's GPS Lorelei because it was always leading them to crazy places. Too funny.

As someone who had a very young mom -- Lorelai Gilmore needed a punch in the face. That show completely romanticized single motherhood in a way that drove me crazy.
