When she was wailing on the steps after her kids were taken away it was some of the worst acting I've ever seen. Not believable at all. I couldn't take it seriously. I was shocked when I saw all the reviews and accolades. People really do get caught up in the subject matter. Smdh. It's too bad because it's a compelling story and I heard the memoir was very well done.
Agree. The strange thing is that the book was more graphic and horrifying. The woman crying about her kids was a loser. In the book, she cried a lot, AND she bacame psychotic, speaking to the children as if they were there, then she died of some form of anorexia, after being beaten over and over. They could have shown some respect for this woman and what she endured by getting a better actress.
BTW, in the book, they implied that her daughter would be used as a prostitute in New Orleans later.

What does this mean?

There are valid criticisms and then there's "melodramatic" and "unintentionally funny." Those aren't tenable positions.
