I can see hating the corner of Wisconsin and M Streets. But there's much more to it than the shopping strip. And it's pretty wonderful.

It's inconvenient and all the best restaurants are elsewhere now. Overrated based on the 80s and 90s cache that lingers for a very few.

I'm not talking about restaurants. I'm talking about the quiet streets, the interesting architecture, the old churches, Dumbarton Oaks, Book Hill, the library, Volta pool, the quiet places to sit on a bench and read a book, etc. Walking around and exploring. It's great for that.

not everyone's life in this area revolves around the city. And not THAT far if you're going at off hours/on a weekend.

again, if our jobs were in downtown DC, we wouldn't have picked there to live. But we worked elsewhere and getting to DC daily wasn't an issue.
