OP here, I feel my younger one is getting borderline heavy. He is 68 percentile for weight.

That is not even closet to being "borderine" heavy unless he is less than 20% height. You are reading the numbers wrong. If he is tall he will weigh more than shorter kids. Seriously, don't be like that.

We drink raw milk. I guess that counts as "whole".

what do they eat for breakfast then??? or not at all?

My husband makes breakfast before he leaves for work. Current favorites are:

Poached egg, toast, fruit

Ham and eggs

Turkey and cheese on english muffins with fruit

Scrambled eggs

I can't remember the last time anyone ate cereal in our house. We just don't like it that much and since there are so many better choices we don't miss it. Thanks for your concern though.

yum yum but don't they wash those down with some milk? i know water is just fine my mine would definitely want some milk with that (and me too)...

Milk is gross. I have steak and a fried egg every morning with either tea or fresh orange juice.

Cow/ goat/ sheep milk is meant for baby cows, or baby goats, or baby sheep. Humans do not need milk from other animals.

Actually, I think it's more accurate to say that cow/goat/sheep milk is meant for humans. Cows, goats, and sheep are domesticated animals. Dairy cows, dairy goats, and dairy sheep are there to produce milk for humans -- particularly humans who have inherited the genes for lactase persistence, which spread very rapidly through human populations that kept domesticated dairy animals.

Do humans NEED milk from other animals? No, of course not. Humans also don't NEED eggs, or fish, or tomatoes, or iPhones.

You do know that there is only 2g of fat difference between 8oz of whole milk vs. 8oz of 2% right?

They drink a fair bit. Between the two of them they likely drink 6 litres a week. A lot of that is taken with cereal.
Why wouldn't they drink milk?

Because there are better ways to get the major nutrients in milk. Calcium and protein are the big reasons that people think milk is important. If they are drinking 6 litres per week, that is about 3900 calories. That is a lot of calories and a lot of liquid volume for the amount of calcium and protein it gets you. For example, spinach, broccoli, and other vegetable contain significant amounts of calcium and are less caloric and less volume than milk.

Exactly. When are people going to wake up and quit falling for the lies of the dairy industry?

It's not the dairy industry. Most nutritionists favor milk, too, for calcium. You'd have to eat 8 cups of spinach to get the same amount of calcium that's actually absorbed, as in one glass of milk. That's really hard to do. Dairy has a very legitimate place in our diets.

Now, whether we actually need the 1,000mg each day, that's another story. That's being newly examined again. But don't blame it in the dairy industry. They make market standard scientific findings, but they aren't making things up. At least not with respect to calcium.

Might be quantity of milk. Or his overall diet. I don't think, for people who have overall diet issues, making one tiny change like milk fat content, is going to do much good.
