Oh right, we're six days short. Hmm. So Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday?

Hurray - the biggest issue has always been that MCPS has a contigency plan and they didn't want to follow it. Maybe they'll learn and propose something they can actually fulfill.

Where do you get that from?

I made it up. But it seems plausible to me. We're 5 days short; 2 days were a state of emergency; that leaves 3 days, and they already said Friday.

I doubt they'll add all 5 days that week. Dr. Starr can resubmit his waiver request. The State declared a State of Emergency during two of the 10 snow days. Bet those two get waived.

Let's see what high schools do about final exams. If they aren't pushed back, attendance will be way below 50%. If they are pushed back attendance will not be affected that much but principals will be swamped with requests to let students take their finals earlier than scheduled.

Kids do watch videos and color and do word searches the last week. What do you expect them to do? The finall assessments will have been completed in May. Newsflash: some teachers won't be there for the last week either (they book vacations and line up second jobs).

Starr can still submit another proposal for a waiver.

Judging from comments on DCUM, only about 50% of students will attend all of the last 5 days (parents made plans already!) and 100% of them will be watching videos (teachers never do their job!). No way for MCPS to win.

My guess is that they extend the school day.. Prince William County shortened recess. Maybe they can shorten lunch? Anything seems better then adding days after finals.
