It's been tough for my DC so far. Some friends are having similar results while others are getting in everywhere. Mine has gotten in to schools where SATs are well above the top quartile mark but not any where s/he is at or just below the top quartile. Shows why you need to like your safeties.
Same here. DD accepted at all the schools where she was in the top 25%, but none where she was actually in the middle 50. Seems to be the same for several friends so far. Ivies out tomorrow and that might be ugly!

Right. I think the problem is that Naviance data is retrospective while admit rates keep going lower every year at the most elite schools. And really, once you get admit rates below 15-20% it's no longer about being a qualified applicant; it's about subjective factors like "fit", diversity and just sheer luck. There's a reason people are starting to call applications to Ivies and such "the lottery."![]()
