Nothing is the kiss of death. She should find a way to explain it. Then pick classes next quarter accordingly.

My best friend's son was told directly by admissions officer at Va Tech that he didn't get in because of a C in AP Calc his junior year. BUT - he did NOT otherwise have a 3.8 unweighted average, which is a pretty fantastic GPA and shows strength across the board. I would say if she brings that grade up she should be fine.
