I grew up without parental controls watching MTV and American Pie. I think most shows today are more tasteful and I don't mind that DS watches.

Its better than that toxic "The summer I turned pretty" show that makes kids feel worthless for not being a billionaire and legacy to Harvard. I truly believe the coming of age shows that focus on Ivy's is more toxic than anything on Weeds.

TV-MA can be anything from some f-bombs and other colorful language to content that is really, really graphic. So the answer is that it depends on the content and context. We check Common Sense Media and take it from there.

Agree! I was 16 when all my friends and I watched Fatal Attraction, and 17 when we borrowed someone's dad's porno and watched (and all thought it was disgusting). Months later we were opening up our acceptance letters to Princeton, Notre Dame, Northwestern, etc. Teens can separate fact from fiction.

My daughter is 16 and she is not allowed to watch anything MA or R rated.

No. My 14 year old isn’t allowed to watch R or anything TV-MA.

My teens could start watching anything they wanted in HS.

I’m watching Game of Thrones with my 15 year old and we fast forward through the sex and nudity.

16 here my mom has parental controls on all devices in our house. But my friend gives me her login lol.

Even though they are 16 they may be emotionally younger.

Let my kids watch everything. Always have. My parents didn’t restrict my TV and I turned out fine.
