I'm with you, OP. It's unprofessional and distasteful for a teacher (who is a public servant) to publicly state the equivalent of "my employer had better not ask me to work more days at the end of the school year." It sounds like some kind of lame-ass threat -- like the teacher is going to quit or call in sick if there are days added to the school year.

Sure the teacher has a right to make stupid comments on his/her facebook page. But I also have the right to judge the teacher as a lazy, unprofessional waste of space who doesn't have the good sense to separate his/her personal and professional lives.

Of course they work hard. And what do you mean by "same pay". They aren't raking in the big bucks. The people setting the pay also set the schedule you know.

And I certainly don't want the days made up at the end. The last couple weeks of school were pretty useless last year. Lots of time-filers like movie-watching etc.

I so agree! The msa is insult to injury at this point post-snow days.

Adding time at the end of the day isn't justified at this point. There is a plan published in MCPS for up to 9 days total. Either the County has to follow that plan or request a waiver. As an educator and a parent, I can respect either decision. There are many years that all four built in days aren't used and the students still go. Over the course of 13 years, it all evens out. I would MUCH rather see the state scrap the totally invalid MSA for the year and use that time for instructional purposes!!!!!

Parents too -- they talk about " how hard " it is to be a parent and how much they hate it because they don't get to do whatever they want, whenever they want. Bunch of adolescents IMO. Everyone needs to stop being so childish.

So, so true.
