We have separate water closets in our bath. Large walk in shower and soaking tub are in the middle of the bathroom...on either side is it's own vanity, closet and room with a toilet. It's not weird because of the layout and that's how it was built. Genius in my opinion...it was one upgrade we 100% agreed on when building.

Close family friends had two separate dressing rooms and bathrooms in their master bedroom. They designed the house that way and I love that idea. Granted, it was a 12,000 sq ft home and the combo was completely on scale with the size of the master bedroom. I do not, however, like the idea of two enclosed toilets within a master bath. I think it is weird and a waste of space. And, FWIW, my DH and I use separate bathrooms to poop.

One toilet should suffice, and if the urge hits the partner, s/he can use the guest toilet.

now . . . if the home has only ONE bathroom, the double toilet would work (awkward in some cases - but it works)

I think "his" and "her" bathrooms is less weird. I don't get the huge master bath idea with lots of little enclosed spaces - like toilet rooms. I would rather have two completely separate bathrooms for privacy. When we build our addition next year, our master bedroom suite will have two bathrooms.

I can't stand the WC rooms in other countries. Overseas in Europe my house only had a toilet on the first floor... WTF?! Do people not wash hands at all? It seemed very common to never see sinks in WCs.
