OP, I grew up in Arizona and most of my family is there. For as long as I have known it, it has been very conservative, pro-gun, pro property rights, etc. Barry Goldwater is a hero. This is nothing new.
But, the Alliance Defense Fund is headquartered in Scottsdale. I think they (and similar) have done a lot of work getting state legislators elected and are currently feeding the climate for these hotbed conservative issues. My parents attend one of the many mega churches in AZ and the ADF use these churches to spew their rhetoric to the masses.

I thunk out of both houses, only three asked her to veto it. Not exactly a major change of heart.

It may have been initially, but some of the ones who voted for it were calling for a veto. So were members of Congress (not the AZ state congress).

What a joke , right? The Teatards vote for the bill, then they urge Brewer to veto it. That way they can tell their loony-fringe supporters they voted for it at fundraisers, even though they never wanted it to pass.

Of course, not all gays are pedophiles and not all pedophiles are gay. But there still is an undeniable correlation. Look at all of the priest abuse scandals.
