White floors aren't an option...it's a bathroom for a handful of boys.

And gray grout won't work with the vanity and granite (earth tones, beige with black flecks).

I'm leaning towards a sand colored porcelain tile for the walls around the shower/tub...large rectangles hung lengthwise (saw this in a million dollar model home recently) without a decorative border (cleaner lines, modern). I'll do 12x12 on the floor set on the diagonal with sand colored grout. That's the plan for now...we'll see what the designer at the tile shop comes up with.

I have white subway tile and I don't regret it. It is not hard to keep the grout clean, you put on penetrating sealer every couple of years. The floor grout, do gray. Do what you like, you will still have to put on penetrating sealer every couple of years whether it is tan or white.

If you have white walls, you don't have to have white floors. Pick another color if you want.

An accent tile like in this picture could break up the white subway tiles and coordinate with the granite and beige floor. Also looks like they used a beige grout.

White Subway tile is god awful to many people. neutral beige is the least offensive to all. It's a middle ground and a safe bet .

The OP's question is based on the premise that there is no turning back, so in this case, no, you can't change tile.

We have white tile in my kids' bathroom and in the half bath on the main level. In both cases, I went with light grey grout. Not an issue for cleaning.

agree with all the above. Not a fan of the all-beige bathrooms, but this combo sounds like it will look nice, effortless and crisp. Nothing too radical.

It’s more durable and will stand up to the beating the boys give it (and them peeing on it). Make sure the floor grout is properly sealed and is a dirt color. The white wall tile will hold up well and the white grout doesn’t really get dingy if sealed properly (and cleaned regularly). How much natural light does the room get? If little, I'd go with white. If a lot, it's easier to get away with beige.
