We love AU. It's suprisingly convienent to both DC and Bethesda, and amazingly even VA (there's a few good routes). It's a neighborhood that lacks some of that 'smack' tht others do - you don't need to be a senators aide to be invited to someone's house - and incomes here are modest (most people are under $400k, so you won't feel like the poor kid on the block).

Found this doing a search -- what are the good routes to VA from AU Park please?

OK, you've drunk the kool-aid. I do not get the love of this park.
It gets love because it's there and there's so little in NW that is child friendly. But it gets old very fast and you run into the same whiny kids and indulgent parents all the time. We started driving to parks in Silver Spring to get away from the same old crowd. And God forbid if you are darker than your child, as the other mothers will assume you're a hired nanny and treat you accordingly.
