Honey, you are the poor person if you are buying IKEA. I have a high income and spend quite freely on good old pieces that add character and style to my home. Anytime someone mentions IKEA, I am reminded of the book "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." She bought all of her furniture from IKEA, brought it home and had someone from IKEA put it together. Then she went a 7-11 and bought a pizza. I will always associate IKEA furniture with 7-11 pizza. The quality is comparable.

Bought a Henredon rococo dresser appraised at $3K for $300 at an estate sale.
Furnished my living room and dining room with vintage, quality pieces (no staples or glue here!), and bought my bedroom set, an ivory wash with delicate hand-painted flowers, at estate sales.
Some people cannot conceive of quality or esthetics beyond their Ethan Allen matching taupe sets reeking with formaldehyde. More vintage for me!
