LOL +1. Fit, good-looking women can get away with little to no makeup or hair styling. Most of the women I hear bragging about how they wear no makeup (or essentially any other grooming) could really use a little.

I hate using deodorant, but I wash regularly and don't stink. However a lot of women here wear so much perfume that it gives headaches, and the worse part, these women are clueless that doing so is tastless .

I'm thin, don't color my hair, don't wear nail polish, and only wear mascara.
I was born and raised in NY. I did take French in high school.

Rural Midwest (so 85% of it) are no highlights. They are too busy for hair appointments.

Midwest cities have highlights, 90's style.

I grew up in a farm town in Missouri before moving to 3 Midwestern cities.


This was a city. Hair looked better than here. People are generally more attractive there than here and care more about appearance. Maybe they are French?

This is true for many people. It never occurred to me to color until I wanted to hide grey.


That's me. I am a dark brunette, blue eyes. I get pedicures, but never wear fingernail polish.

I wear make-up--but very natural. Tinted moisturizer, not foundation, etc.

This is sort of an Ivy, east coast thing too.

I just moved to DC from Chicago (the city) and highlights are everywhere.

Of course they are. It's just that people around here don't even do their hair let alone highlight it

I should say that the highlights are very subtle/natural-looking, but they are there!

I know a bunch of "Ivy" women (just writing that sounds horrible) who are definitely highlighted and definitely not French-looking wrt clothes/physique. No nail polish though and no harsh makeup.
