Both been on the market going on 3 months. Thats a lot of $ for no basement/no garage homes, 1000+ sq ft, with one almost in SS.

I wouldn't go to Olney or Gaithersburg areas (although I love those locations) I would stay as close to 270/495 area if possible. Nothing further up than exit 6 on 270. Past there is where the traffic will be torture for you.

Potomac Woods is a great neighborhood but Ritchie Park is not a good school. It is a school with a ton of problems.

If you want a reasonable commute and don't mind the second tier of the best school district in the area, I'd stick with Silver Spring/Kensington as some PPs have suggested. Zip codes in Silver Spring that are more desirable are 20910 and 20901. Rockville schools are fine too, and you'll get more house for your $, but the commute will be MUCH longer.

Note that some people on DCUM have an aversion to brown people (excl asians), so you will see lots of folks turn up their noses at Silver Spring and Kensington. They are diverse areas, to be sure. If this bothers you, I too would suggest you head toward Olney/Gaithersburg.
