The last person to do anything constructive for DCPS was Michelle Rhee. Grey quickly ushered her out. I doubt any current candidate would bring her - or someone as effective - back into the position.

And, this is why I won't support Bowser. Her whole campaign is based on words, but without enough detail to define what she means. Sure, Deal should be a model, but what does that mean and how will it be implemented? She is like that for every issue.

These are some of the things I've heard her say. Her over all plan does not seem to be inclusive. I don't like the idea of this deputy mayor. It puts one more person between you and the decision maker. I don't see what she going to do to get a different result. Deal has been a model school for awhile ( while she's been on DC council) yet the kids on the other side of the city still cannot read. Let's be honest Deal is good due to parent involvement. So what's her plan????

Doesn't sound like much of a plan to me. A plan would entail explaining in detail how her administration would make all middle schools students perform as well as tHose at Deal, as if. No evidence of leadership or a long term vision.

Phil says he doesn't want the job, but he's been a solid council chairman and would make a solid mayor. I do wish that Anthony Williams would come back.

@18:22, please, Fenty is no saint. The incessant drumbeat that this city needs Fenty back is a crock. I am not defending Gray, but there is no proof that he did anything for personal financial gain.

Fenty on the other hand....

Also, candidates tend to ignore our side of town. I don't hate him enough to switch to just anyone so I am leaning towards voting for him again. Ignoring Ward 7 and 8 put Fenty out of office.

Yes. He should have dug into corruption, taken the graft money, paid out the vote, and brought the scare-mongering back that keeps Marion Barry Mayor-for-Life! Oh wait, that's what Gray did. Yes, shame on Fenty. Shame on any politician who tries to run an honest campaign in DC. You'll lose to the ossified political machine.

Hopefully at least in this century you'll get indicted by the US Attorney and sent away (Harry Thomas Jr., Kwame Brown, Michael Brown, Vincent Gray? Vincent Orange?). The record is good so far, let it be unbroken.

Check out Reta Lewis's twitter account. It's like a 7 year old is tweeting. Whoever is tweeting on behalf wrote Kathy Lanier. I don't think she has any interest in being mayor but I sure would like to know her motivation for throwing her hat in the ring.

Further splintering the field, as part of a shadow campaign?

Pure speculation of course, what with Hizzoner having such unimpeachable credibility.
